FAQ's

What is Powder Coating?
To powder coat you must first have a clean bare piece of metal that will resist 400 degrees temps. You must also have a powder coating gun. This gun will spray a colored like granulated talcum powder substance out over the metal covering it. When the powder coating gun is fully charged it holds about 10,000 volts or more of electrical charge, which is needed to draw the colored powder to the clean bare metal and cover the metal. Once the part has been totally covered then the part is placed in a curing oven for approx 20 min. Allowing powder to flow out . And then the powder becomes a finish. You then let it cool about 30 min. then the part is ready to be placed into service.

What does the finish look like compared to Paint?
This question is very common. Generally the finish on an item that has been powder coated has a high gloss that is chip and rust resistant. It can be easily cleaned with glass cleaner or a similar product. Due to the high temperature of the curing oven and the way the powder is spread onto the surface of the metal. The powder then flows evenly over the entire piece leaving a finish you will not have to wax for that glossy finish. The shine is embedded into the finish during the powder coating process. Many items used for show quality are powder coated due to the high gloss and easy care.

Can I use paint from a store Spray paint etc… ?
This is an easy question really. Powder coating is for those people who either want to show their items. Or for those of us who don’t mind paying a little extra and having something last almost forever. Especially if you are tired of wasting your money on paint that requires you to maintain it as well after it is painted? Powder coating does not scratch when it gets dust on it, like paint might or usually does when you wipe it off. Even when under a vehicle there are rocks flying up against rear axles leaf coil springs and other suspension components and heat is always a factor. The shine will always be there! Powder Coating is strong and long lasting in other words you do get what you pay for and more when it comes to powder coating finishes!

Is Powder Coating Indestructible?
No! Any Finish is not Indestructible! However to understand the Strength of A Finish you Must understand 3 things.

  • Thickness
  • Hardness
  • Pliability

What this means is like with Paint it can be easily chipped because it is very thin,( it does not bend) paint on a spring will crack over time it is hard.

Powder coating has 75% of the hardness of chrome plating. Yet it is still Very pliable, which is what makes it good for rocks to bounce off of. Yet it also bonds to metal from underneath which prevents most of the rust as long as there is no rust on the metal to begin with. If there is rust on the metal to begin with it may cause weakness, which may then cause chipping. This is why each piece of metal must also be cleaned well before coating.

Price List
We don’t carry a general price list. Reason for that is because each piece/part may vary quite a bit from the other. Pricing depends on size of piece/part , rust on piece, if it is clean metal or not, if it needs sand blasting and how much. Prices will be quoted by pictures or by sight. Any quotes given by pictures are due to changes by either customer wishes or by equipment needed. Any changes in the quotes will be discussed with the customer prior to the service provided.

Reducing Cost
To reduce the cost prior to bringing you piece in make sure all rubber pieces are off the metal, all plastic pieces are taken off the metal, and if you are able to apply rust remover if needed . Make sure there is no grease on the metal. Make sure the metal you are sending is Clean Bare metal !

DO NOT SEND
NO GLASS
NO PLASTIC
NO RUBBER
NO THIN METAL All MTAL MUST BE ABLE TO WITH STAND HEAT OF 400 DEGREES !
WILL NOT ACCEPT RESPONSIBILTIY FOR DAMAGED METAL!

Turn Around Time
